artículo de publicación periódica.listelement.badge Application of material jetting technology for the development of incision and closure surgical devices(2022) Sandre, Cristian; De Bernardez, Leopoldo; Poggi, Luciano; Sanguinetti, Juan Manuel"Material Jetting technology has proven to be very useful in the manufacture of parts with a variety of shapes, consistencies, textures, transparencies and colours, and a great diversity of mechanical properties can be achieved, from low hardness elastomers to rigid materials. Applications range from manufacturing parts in limited production runs with bright, colourful designs to be distributed as marketing items to functional prototypes that closely resemble final products. The possibility of creating digital materials with a wide range of mechanical properties by combining resins that polymerize with UV light makes it possible to approach the final properties of a piece that will later be produced on a larger scale with commercial polymers, both thermoplastic and elastomers, through traditional manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, compression moulding or thermoforming. Keeping in mind these advantages, we have used Polyjet technology for the development of incision and closure surgical devices. The prototypes were manufactured using a combination of resins that allow the properties of commercial elastomers, potentially used for the final product, to be approached. The characteristics of the device, the requirements of the prototypes, and the mechanical properties of the combinations of resins that were considered suitable for this application are described. Besides the absence of manu-facturing tools permits a reduction of the time to market. Despite these relevant advantages, building time is generally high and it can typically determine significant energy consumption. Several studies investigate the effect of infill patterns on material mechanical properties to address the design of deposition patterns but these works do not take into consideration relevant aspects related to the manufacturing stage, such as the energy consumption, both the building paths and time. The choice of the infill pattern greatly affects the balance amongst part performances, energy and material consumption. On the other hand, a reduction of the deposited material can effectively reduce the building time and then the process energy. In the present paper, an index that quantifies this balance for a largely used Additive Manufacturing technology is introduced. For this purpose, an experimental investigation is carried out by monitoring the process energy during the manufacturing of specimens characterised by different infill patterns. Se trata de un sustituto conveniente, saludable y práctico para aquellos que, por motivos éticos y/o beneficiosos para su salud optan por no ingerir productos lácteos."tesis de maestría.listelement.badge Use of energy surplus from local renewable sources, to produce electrolytic hydrogen for electricity generation at isolated places in Argentina(2018-09-17) Oettinger, Sebastián Federico; De Bernardez, Leopoldo"The aim of this project is to study the use of energy surplus from local renewable sources at isolated places in Argentina, to produce electrolytical hydrogen as clean fuel for electricity generation. Furthermore, the hydrogen production is seen as a storage technology to attenuate intermittent power supplies to microgrids. Significant knowledge, concerning Hydrogen production, storage and combustión, is available in Argentina at lab-prototype stage. Although experimental research is still required, this work is an approach to the utilization of the existing technology. Mostly, micro-grids depend on expensive energy generation, as gas turbines or diesel engines that have to work out of their optimal operating point. As case study, it is considered the city of Río Grande, placed at the province of Tierra del Fuego in Argentina, because it is not connected to the national grid and shows excellent wind conditions. Together with Río Grande, there are other micro-grids in the region, which could benefit from the incorporation of energy storage technologies and rely on renewable energy. The analysis of Río Grande’s energy situation, as well as the potential use of wind energy and Hydrogen storage, have shown synergies to reduce energy costs and emissions. Although a general solution was not reached, a scenario is shown in which the hydrogen production and the storage capacity are optimal to offer insight into the problematic and serve as reference for further investigations."
