Abstract
"Derivatives of steel wool in the Argentine market are in a state of decline due to the amount of substitutes that exist. For this reason the total market volume are declining causing factories to reduce their volume of sales year after year. This work focuses on a exclusively steel wool producing factory and the goal is to provide investment options to maximize the profitability of the plant reducing its fixed costs and launching new products whose manufacture is related to the production of steel wool. Among the new markets to develop is that of the " Viruta" that is currently in a vegetative growth. The amount of the investment is $95 thousand pesos. This project has a payback period of 2 years and an increase in enterprise value of 110%. The second market to be analyzed is the "steel wool powder" that is currently growing. The amount of the investment required is $375 thousand pesos. This project has a repayment period of 3 years and the increase in the value of the company is 156%. Among the alternatives to reduce fixed costs is the opportunity to buy an accessory for one of the machines and disengage an operator. The cost is $ 45 thousand pesos, has a repayment period of a year and a half and causes an increase in business value of 57%. The outcome of sequencing these three investments in an appropriate way and taking a loan is greater than doing these changes by themselves because of the synergies that can be achieved within each project. This rests with the manufacturer which option to choose to invest."
