Abstract
"In the present work different models of heat pumps are studied in order to evaluate the potential of heat pumps for waste heat recovery using refrigerants with low environmental impact.
The source of waste heat that was studied was an injection molding machine. This process requires the extraction of the heat produced by the machine through the cooling medium and the surrounding air.
The five resulting models with different configurations and refrigerants were simulated in order to assess the potential recovery of the waste heat by means of a heat pump to obtain hot air that can be used in the drying process before the processing of the plastic pellets. These models were sketched in the software EBSILON professional in order to simulate the performance of the heat pumps under different operational conditions. As some of the parameters and configuration characteristics were assumed for the modelling, an analysis of the variation of the heat pump performance with different conditions was evaluated".
